TENTATIVE: Camp Albion - Watermill Touring Theatre

Date: 20 Oct 2020
Marlborough Town Hall

This performance was originally scheduled for 19th May 2020. Sadly it had to be postponed but we are cautiously hopeful that it may be able to be performed on Tuesday 20th October 2020. As soon as this is confirmed we will open this event for booking.

We are delighted to welcome the Watermill Theatre Company to perform "Camp Albion" in the Assembly Room, Marlborough Town Hall. Once a year the Watermill Theatre take one of their productions "on tour" and this will be their premiere event at Marlborough Town Hall.

Camp Albion explores the building of the 1996 Newbury Bypass and the activism and environmental debate that accompanied it. Told through the eyes of Cassie, a university student, the play investigates both sides of the argument as she and her mother find themselves on opposing sides. In a time before smartphones, Twitter, Greta Thunberg and Extinction Rebellion, the “Third Battle of Newbury” was one of the definitive environmental campaigns of the 1990s.

Doors open 6:45pm. Cash bar. Show starts: 7:30pm. Tickets £20  (£17 for Friends of The Merchant's House)
